Fastdaltinden, Nordmannstinden, Tafeltinden, Rissavarri or Storegalten - these are not names of legendary Nordic trolls, but a list of the most beautiful "house mountains" around your lodge. We are at the "Gateway to the Arctic Ocean", where the glistening white peaks of the Lyngen Alps greet us, stretching 90 kilometers along the west bank of the Lyngen Fjord. Abundant snow, reaching all the way to the shores of the turquoise shimmering sea, with the highest mountain: the mighty Jiekkevarre, 1883 m. A ski and mountain guide from the DAV Summit Club selects the best tours for us, depending on the weather and snow conditions.
The Lyngen Alps are considered the ski touring Mecca of Norway: almost unlimited terrain just waiting to be discovered by us. Short transfers in the minibus expand our tour repertoire. As the starting point for some ski tours, we choose the ferry: the change of perspective from land to water opens up breathtaking landscape panoramas - the steep coast of the Lyngen Peninsula is impressive! The peaks near the lodge also enrich our ski touring week, then we ski down to the lodge in gentle curves towards the fjord. Due to the low altitude of this ski touring paradise, we are more efficient than in the much higher regions of the domestic Alps. Ascents of up to 1200 meters in altitude and correspondingly long descents promise pure driving pleasure in mostly untouched terrain. If there is still time after a tour, we can visit "Aurora Spirit", the northernmost whisky distillery in the world. In the evenings, we enjoy the good Nordic cuisine, for example with fresh fish. The Northern Lights also take the lead: no one can resist their magic, and with a bit of luck we can admire them late at night!
